Singapore Pet Transport Process

Step 1

Step 1: Review Paperwork

Once your transport plan is confirmed, we begin with a detailed review of your pet’s records, including microchip information, vaccination history, and veterinary documentation. Singapore’s requirements are highly specific, so we identify missing items or timing concerns early to help you avoid costly delays or denied entry.

Step 2

Step 2: Prepare Travel Documents

Singapore’s import process depends on precise documentation submitted within strict timelines. We work directly with your veterinarian to prepare health certificates, confirm vaccination and testing requirements, and complete all necessary import and export paperwork.

Step 3

Step 3: Book Flights

We carefully select airline routes to Singapore that prioritize safety, proper animal handling, and efficient transit times. By coordinating airline approvals and minimizing unnecessary layovers, we design a flight plan that supports your pet’s comfort while meeting Singapore’s transport regulations.

Step 4

Step 4: Receive Travel Itinerary

You’ll receive a comprehensive travel itinerary that clearly outlines each stage of your pet’s journey—from pre-departure preparation to arrival procedures in Singapore. This detailed roadmap ensures you know what to expect, when action is needed, and how your pet’s move will unfold.

Step 5

Step 5: Arrange Pick-Up

Our team coordinates secure, professional pick-up from your home, veterinarian, boarding facility, or another preferred location. We focus on calm handling, proper crate preparation, and smooth transport to the airport, ensuring your pet starts their journey feeling safe and supported.

Step 6

Step 6: Get Transit Updates

Throughout your pet’s journey, we provide timely updates at key milestones, including airport check-in, flight departure, and arrival confirmation. Our communication keeps you informed without guesswork, offering reassurance while your pet is en route to Singapore.

Step 7

Step 7: Customs & Delivery

Upon arrival in Singapore, our local partners manage customs clearance, veterinary inspections, and official entry procedures. Once your pet is approved for release, we arrange safe delivery to your home or designated destination—so your reunion is smooth, seamless, and stress-free.

Singapore Pet Transport & Travel Requirements

Traveling with a pet to Singapore requires careful planning, complete documentation, and strict compliance with the country’s import rules. While the process is straightforward when handled correctly, missing paperwork or incomplete endorsements can cause delays or entry complications. Pets in Transit helps guide you through Singapore’s requirements—coordinating microchip verification, rabies vaccinations, licenses, health certificates, and airline logistics to ensure a smooth journey. Below is an overview of what to expect when preparing your pet for travel to Singapore.

Microchip Requirement

All dogs and cats entering Singapore must have an ISO-compliant microchip (11784/11785). If your pet’s microchip is not ISO-compliant, you must provide a compatible reader at the point of entry. This ensures Singapore authorities can accurately identify your pet upon arrival.

Rabies Vaccination

Dogs and cats must have current rabies vaccinations administered by a licensed veterinarian. Vaccination certificates must clearly show:

  • Microchip number of the pet
  • Name and signature of the vaccinating veterinarian
  • Name and address of the veterinary practice

These certificates help Singapore verify your pet’s immunity and readiness for entry.

Import & Dog Licenses

Every pet must have a valid import license issued by Singapore’s Animal & Veterinary Service (AVA). Dogs also require a dog license before applying for the import license. Applications for both must be submitted at least 30 days prior to your pet’s arrival. Cats require an import license, submitted at least 30 days before entry.

Veterinary Certification & Export Health Certificate

An official export health certificate is required for all U.S.-origin pets, including those from Hawaii and Guam. All dogs and cats must be accompanied by a veterinary certificate issued no more than 7 days before export, signed by a government-approved veterinarian and endorsed by an official government veterinarian in the country of export. The certificate must confirm:

  • Age, breed, sex, color, and other identifying features.
  • Continuous residence in an approved country for at least 6 months or since birth.
  • Clinical examination proving the pet is healthy, free of contagious disease, and fit to travel.
  • Microchip verification.
  • Up-to-date vaccinations, including rabies vaccination and required routine canine or feline vaccines.
  • A valid FAVN rabies antibody titer (rabies serology) test completed within Singapore’s required timeline.
  • Recent treatment for external parasites (fleas and ticks) between 2 and 7 days before export.
  • Recent treatment for internal parasites (nematodes and cestodes) between 2 and 7 days before export.
  • The pet is not pregnant.
  • The pet is not a prohibited breed.

Quarantine Requirements

Singapore requires quarantine for imported dogs and cats in certain situations. Commercial imports must stay at the Animal Quarantine Centre for at least 10 days. Personal imports may also require home or facility quarantine for at least 10 days if:

  • The pet is not imported within 5 days of the owner’s arrival in Singapore.
  • The pet is being imported for transfer of ownership, including adopted or rescued animals.

Pet owners are responsible for arranging quarantine space and covering all associated fees.

Notification of Arrival

Pet owners or agents must schedule an inspection appointment at least five working days before arrival using AVA’s online booking system (iFAST). This ensures Singapore’s authorities are prepared to inspect and clear your pet upon entry.

Airline & Transport Considerations

Airlines and shipping companies have their own policies for pet transport, including crate requirements and routing rules. Pets in Transit coordinates with carriers to confirm that all airline-specific requirements are met, in addition to Singapore’s import regulations.

Transiting Other Countries

If your pet transits through the European Union on the way to Singapore, a transit health certificate may be required. This certificate follows the same rules as if the EU country were the final destination, and timing must be carefully coordinated.

Prohibited Breeds & Crosses

Certain dog breeds and their crosses cannot be imported into Singapore, including:

  • Pit Bull, American Staffordshire Terrier, Staffordshire Bull Terrier, American Bulldog, Neapolitan Mastiff, Tosa, Akita, Dogo Argentino, Boerboel, Fila Brasileiro, Perro de Presa Canario.
  • Certain cat crosses also require proof of at least 5th generation from their wild ancestors (Bengal and Savannah cats).
