UAE Pet Relocation Process

Step 1

Step 1: Review Paperwork

Once you approve the proposal, we begin with a full review of your pet’s details, vaccination history, and veterinary records to ensure they meet UAE import standards. If updates or additional treatments are required, we guide you through them.

Step 2

Step 2: Prepare Travel Documents

UAE entry requirements involve strict timelines and precise documentation. We coordinate directly with your veterinarian to gather health certificates, verify vaccination windows, and prepare all export and import paperwork—ensuring everything aligns with UAE customs and regulations.

Step 3

Step 3: Book Flights

With documentation set, we arrange the safest and most efficient flight route to the UAE. We select airlines known for excellent pet care, avoid unnecessary layovers, and prioritize routes with proper climate control to protect your pet’s comfort throughout the journey.

Step 4

Step 4: Receive Travel Itinerary

You’ll receive a complete, easy-to-read itinerary outlining your pet’s travel schedule, airport check-in details, handling protocols, and arrival procedures in the UAE. Every step is clearly mapped out, giving you confidence and visibility from start to finish.

Step 5

Step 5: Arrange Pick-Up

Whether your pet is at home, a boarding facility, your vet’s office, or another location, we schedule a smooth and stress-free pick-up. Our trained transport team ensures your pet travels safely, stays comfortable, and arrives prepared for their journey.

Step 6

Step 6: Get Transit Updates

Our team keeps you informed every step of the way. From airport check-in to flight status updates and touchdown in the UAE, you’ll receive timely communication so you always know where your pet is and how they’re doing during their relocation.

Step 7

Step 7: Customs & Delivery

Upon landing in the UAE, our experienced partners handle customs clearance, veterinary checks, and required inspections. Once your pet is released, we arrange safe delivery straight to your home or chosen location—ensuring a happy and stress-free reunion.

UAE Pet Transport & Travel Requirements

Moving your pet to the UAE requires careful preparation, strict documentation, and compliance with the country’s entry rules. While pets who meet all UAE requirements typically do not need quarantine, any documentation errors or incomplete procedures can result in denied entry or delays. At Pets in Transit, we guide you through every step—from microchipping and vaccinations to import permits, health certificates, customs procedures, and post-arrival compliance. Here’s what you need to know before your pet travels:

Microchip & Identification

All pets entering the UAE must have an ISO 11784/11785-compliant microchip (15 digits).

  • The microchip number must appear on every official document, including health and vaccination certificates.
  • Only two pets per traveler are allowed annually (1 cat + 1 dog, or 2 cats, or 2 dogs).
  • The pet must be at least 15 weeks old at the time of import.

Import Permit

Before travel, pets require an import permit from the UAE Ministry of Climate Change and Environment (MOCCAE).

  • The permit is valid for 30 days—pets cannot enter the UAE on an expired permit.
  • Transit pets must obtain a separate transit permit from MOCCAE.

Travel & Airline Requirements

Pets must travel as manifested cargo with IATA-compliant crates suitable for size, ventilation, and durability. Airlines may have specific breed or size restrictions—our team ensures your crate meets both airline and UAE entry standards.

Health Certificates

Pets must have a USDA-endorsed international health certificate issued within 10 days of travel.

  • Original ink endorsement by USDA is required; electronic veterinarian signatures are accepted for initial submission.
  • Only one pet per certificate.

Vaccinations & Health Requirements

Dogs: (h4)

  • Rabies (at least 12 weeks old and 21 days must elapse after vaccination before travel)
  • Canine distemper virus
  • Canine parvovirus
  • Infectious canine hepatitis

Cats: (h4)

  • Mastiff types (Fila Brasiliero, Dogo Argentino, Tibetan Mastiff, Neapolitan Mastiff, Dogue de Bordeaux, Boerboel, Bullmastiff, Cane Corso, Bully Kutta, Presa Canario)
